The fireplace is at the heart of Chalet Falcon / Chalet Aigle and can provide a very cozy feeling and a lovely ambience. There are air vents integrated into the stone hearth to control airflow to the fire. Close these to reduce the fire, open these to increase the fire.
There is also an exhaust vent in the chimney controlled by a handle on the left hand side inside the fireplace. There are 4 settings on this handle. When the handle is down the vent is open, when it is up the vent is closed. PLEASE LEAVE THIS VENT FULLY OPEN, otherwise the chalet is at risk of filling with smoke.
Please be careful when using the fire as this can quickly grow very large is not managed sensibly.
To this end we provide some simply rules about using the fireplace to maximise your enjoyment and safety when using the fire.
*ALWAYs use the fireguard, at all times excluding when adding new wood to the fire. This prevents sparks from leaving the fireplace.
*Do not leave the fire unattended if a fire is burning. Burning embers can be left unattended when the fireguard is in place.
*Please ensure all logs are placed at back of the fire behind the grill area, not in the middle as this will draw smoke into the chalet, and NEVER at the front as this causes a fire risk.
*No more than 3 logs should be on the fire at any given time to maintain control of the fireplace.
Please leave chimney exhaust vent fully open.
Please use the fire/heat protection glove provided when stoking or adding wood to the fire.
